I am bored, so allow me to ask this completely random question: What is your car’s spirit dog? What dog most closely matches your car’s personality and why? You can try to come up with an answer on your own, or you can try to take this “What dog are you?” test for your car:

A golden lab.

Just pure love all the time. Like, it could break two legs, and still run up to the door every time to greet you because it’s so happy you’re there.

That’s the Miata. It may not run too great, but it still starts every single t ime. Even when— just maybe—it shouldn’t. It should rest. Recover. But it can't bear the thought of letting me down :(

The Twingo is a Cavalier King Charles.
Small and happy, but not peppy, direct and wild as a Jack Russel. But also not as slow and ugly as a Pug.

That comparison is especially good because Labs are one of the most popular and beloved dog breeds, much like how Miatas are some of the most popular and beloved enthusiast cars. Miata Is Always The Answer and... um... Lab Always Buddy!

The “ what dog are you?” test tells me that my Thunderbird is a G reat Dane. I can see that. It’s big, that’s for sure. It looks imposing at first glance but it’s actually not aggressive at all, it’s rather sweet. Great Danes are also a bit clumsy in that they can sometimes knock things over due to their size. I haven’t knocked anything over with my T-bird, but it does have boaty handling, so I’ll say that’s the car equivalent of clumsy. They demand a lot of attention, which is also true of my car. I guess my car’s spirit dog is a Great Dane!

as a kitten, our cat legitimately played catch. in the morning , she would bring us a toy, and we would trow it through the doorway and the cat would go get it and bring it back so we could throw it aga in and again.

Oh my... Ozzy might be the Allroad of dogs. Longboi, interesting looking, potentially useful, pleasant to be around, but also rather unreliable.

Perhaps a dragster? They can inspire awe with their extremely fast acceleration, but they won’t happily do that for more than a few seconds at a time, spending most of their time getting  trailered around and worked on while they rest.

My Volvo XC70 would have to be a Bernese Mountain Dog. Big, solid, good looking, not particularly agile, and unless it’s well trained, kinda does what it wants. But it’s great with the family and will never bite you.

My wife’s Mini would have to be something small and hyper, some kind of terrier I’d imagine. Quick and agile.

Now my truck, oh boy. Maybe a Mastif. People always love to see the truck, but they’re slightly intimidated to actually interact with it, until you get to know it. I think you could say the same about a Mastif. And I suspect a Mastif won’t do what you ask it to do unless you’ve had some experience with it, kind of like the truck.

That seems to fit. I’ve heard that Mastiffs are smart enough to realize that they’re big enough that they can question you, but if they respect you as the alpha then they’ll do what you say. So you gotta develop a relationship with them if you want them to cooperate.

Pretty well describes the truck. Anyone can drive it, it’s not trying to kill you. But if you want to drive it smoothly, it takes some practice, and you have to know its moods.

For obvious reasons, my spirit dog is the whippet, and not just because I have two of them.

But my car? I think the Cruze is more like a dachshund, since its stubby proportions emphasize the midsection while remaining small and slow.
